i stopped at jenny's in empire, really cuz i needed water, but decided food would be very good. it cost me too much daylight, so had to figure out a place to stay. the waiter said i could probably camp in the park but that i should talk to the town police who had someone pulled over across the street and were ransacking his car. then the waitress said the peck house. i knew from my maps there was a b&b in town too. the waitress thought the b&b had wifi and the peck house didn't. the b&b was full, and it turns out the peck house has wifi (just no tv and phones). if you're ever in empire and want to stay at a very charming and historical place, the peck house is it. it, btw, is the longest operating hotel in colorado (from the 1860s i believe).
